Welcome Home: VMFA-312 returns to MCAS Beaufort

vmfa 312Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 312 (VMFA-312) returned to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort on Sunday and Monday after a long deployment that included supporting  Middle East operations while aboard the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Persian Gulf.

Theodore Roosevelt and its carrier strike group are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the Persian Gulf region.

Sunday was the ‘fly-in’, with pilots returning home, and the main body of the unit returned on Monday evening.

We’re always glad to see our Marines home safe, and we thank them for protecting our freedom around the world.

Welcome home Checkerboards. You were missed.
