Warm hearts, cold water and lots of fun forecasted for the 2019 Hunting Island New Years Day Pelican Plunge!

It’s time to sign up for the 10th Annual Pelican Plunge on Hunting Island Beach!

This outrageous event is organized by the fine folks at Friends of Hunting Island State Park and every year, costumed dressed participants enjoy hot drinks and lunch, a steel drum band, s’mores and lots more.

Proceeds benefit Hunting Island State Park’s Discover Carolina program, a hands-on, curriculum-based instruction program for 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade students in Beaufort County schools. Participating students visit Hunting Island to learn about the ecology of a semi-tropical barrier island. More than 3,000 3rd, 5th, and 7th graders have participated in this unique educational program.

The registration cost is $30 per vehicle with up to 6 passengers (plungers) inside and $50 for a vehicle with up to 10 participants inside.

“This allows us to host the maximum number of participants while still being capable of providing ample parking for everyone,” Corbin added.
