Reptiles at Santee Coastal Reserve
September 12 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Dominated by freshwater, brackish and tidal wetlands, Santee Coastal Reserve is a 24,000 acre Wildlife Management Area located in northern Charleston County. Its diverse and protected habitats allow a vast array of wildlife including alligators, snakes and turtles to thrive there.
Join SCDNR herpetologists as we explore the reptiles found on the reserve and the research projects currently underway to understand and protect them. We’ll go on a tour of the property in search of reptiles and learn more about each species and the habitats where they are found here in South Carolina!
We suggest bringing binoculars (spotting scope if you have one) and plenty of water. Dress to spend the day outdoors and bring any food you may need for the day, as the event will continue through lunch.
